Secretary of State Clinton inspired a New Generation of Leaders

April 17, 2009

“Always aim high, work hard, and care deeply about what you believe in. When you stumble, keep faith. When you’re knocked down, get right back up. And NEVER listen to anyone who says you can’t or shouldn’t go on.”

From health care, national security, to foreign policy, our SOS presidential campaign was a highlight of 2008.  There were many lessons to be learned but the most important aspect was a phrase a quote, a remark in her 7 June concession speech that resonates for me still to this very day: “The Dreams We Share are Worth Fighting For”.  For me, that is health care, something I do care deeply about but not solely on the fact that it’s personal, it’s because it should not be treated or thought about as a “privilege”.  We will lift our “moral authority” substantially when we all realize that health care is something we should ALL have the opportunity AND chance to receive.

What happened to the fight? We focus on the economy but a key aspect to job loss is the loss of the chance to have health coverage. But so many say what you want to hear and not say what needs to be done. Secretary of State Clinton said it best and it’s time to remember and act accordingly.

National security is another important issue, keeping our country safe and ensuring that we do continue to lead by example but not by compromising our values or lowering our moral integrity, standards or authority.
